At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.
At Cancer Research UK, we're committed to putting our supporters, donors and audiences at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an Audience Senior Manager to help drive our audience-centric approach across the Marketing, Fundraising & Engagement (MFE) directorate. This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work across teams to turn audience strategy into action, ensuring that audience priorities are translated into meaningful experiences, practical ways of working, and measurable impact. You will play a pivotal role in embedding audience-first thinking across the directorate, bringing together stakeholders, creating tools and frameworks, and helping teams deliver better experiences for our supporters.
What will I be doing?
Audience Strategy & Prioritisation
- Use audience insights and evidence to support decision-making and prioritisation across the directorate.
- Translate audience-led strategies into practical tools, frameworks, and guidance that teams can easily apply in their day-to-day work.
- Help shape and manage the audience roadmap, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and delivered effectively.
Audience Experience
- Support the development and management of priority audience journeys, identifying opportunities to improve engagement and impact.
- Help teams focus on key moments, motivations and pain points throughout the supporter experience.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to design, test and improve the experiences that matter most to supporters.
Culture, Capability & Ways of Working
- Champion audience-centric working across MFE, helping teams adopt audience-led behaviours and practices.
- Drive initiatives such as audience immersion and supporter listening activities to strengthen audience understanding.
- Embed audience-first principles into planning processes, briefs and investment decisions.
Cross-Functional Delivery & Enablement
- Bring together stakeholders from different teams to align on shared audience priorities.
- Provide project leadership and coordination to maintain momentum and deliver outcomes.
- Identify and remove barriers that slow delivery, helping teams work more effectively and efficiently.
- Contribute to presentations, recommendations and papers for senior stakeholders, including the MFE Senior Leadership Team.
- Stay informed on audience experience best practice and bring fresh ideas from across the sector and beyond.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and is passionate about improving experiences for audiences and supporters.
- Proven experience driving cross-functional programmes or projects within a complex, matrix organisation.
- Experience working in an audience-led, customer-led or supporter-led environment.
- Strong understanding of audience segmentation, audience prioritisation and performance measurement.
- Experience applying audience-first approaches across marketing, fundraising, product or journey-based delivery.
- Ability to translate audience insights and strategy into practical outputs and tangible results.
- Experience influencing and coordinating senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and operational delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
You'll also bring
- A passion for creating better experiences for audiences and supporters.
- A natural ability to see the bigger picture while managing detail.
- Confidence in diagnosing organisational challenges and driving improvements in ways of working.
- A collaborative, pragmatic approach and the ability to build momentum across diverse teams.
Desirable
- Experience building audience capability, embedding culture change, or leading audience-centred transformation initiatives.
