  Ascending.ltd is a manpower service provider that serves clients in various areas including in oil and gas. 
We are currently looking for an experienced Second Officer - 2/O (unlimited licence)  to work onboard of a M/V in Guyana.
 
Work Location: Suriname - Guyana

Certificates & Training Requirements

- COC “Certificate of competency” (OOW of Vessel of 3000 GRT or more/Unlimited STCW A-II/1)
- ARPA “Automatic Radar Plotting Aids” (STCW A-II/2)
- ECDIS “Electronic Chart Display and Information System” (STCW A-II/2)
- GMDSS “Global Maritime Distress and Safety System” GOC (STCWA- IV/2)
- Full DP Operator Certificate (License, STCW B-V/e)
- BRM “Bridge Resource Management” (STCW A-II/2)
- Leadership and Managerial Skills (STCW A-II/2)
- BST (STCW A-VI/1: PST, FFFP, EFA, PSSR)
- Advanced Firefighting (STCW A-VI/3)
- Medical First Aid (STCW A-VI/4)
- PSCRB “Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boat” (STCW A-VI/2)
- Security Awareness (STCW A-VI/6.1)
- Designated Security Duties (STCW A-VI/6.2)
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
• Assist in navigation and watchkeeping duties.
• Monitor vessel's position, speed, and course.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Oversee maintenance of navigational equipment.
• Assist in the management of the deck crew.
• Plan and execute cargo operations.
• Ensure vessel stability during cargo operations.
• Communicate effectively with crew and shore-based personnel.
• Respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Assist in the preparation of voyage plans.
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust course as necessary.
• Ensure proper stowage and securing of cargo.
• Inspect safety equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
• Assist in the implementation of the vessel's safety management system.
• Participate in port state control inspections.
• Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Officer.
• In absence of Chief Mate, or when designated by the Captain, implement Captain’s directions for the running of the vessel: direct sail setting, striking, and handling, ship maneuvering, prepare for docking, head of the emergency response team.
• Work closely with the Chief Mate and Captain to ensure your comfortability and competency with sail handling and commands.

Qualifications Requirements

• Full DP Operator Certificate
• Team management skills
• Fluent written/oral English language.
• 18 years or older
• High level of responsibility and accountability
• Be organized and self-motivated.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment with inclement weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of navigation and maritime regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure.
