Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The Business Risk & Controls Manager will operate within the first line Business Controls Unit and will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the supervision and control arrangements supporting the Banking and Global Transaction Banking businesses.

You’ll provide independent and constructive first-line challenge to business risk owners, oversee the operation and development of the relevant control frameworks, and provide senior management with clear, evidence-based information on the effectiveness of the control environment.

You’ll bring together risk information from across the business and control functions, identify emerging issues and control weaknesses, and ensure that actions are appropriately owned, tracked, escalated and brought to closure.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Leading and coordinating supervision arrangements, including regular supervision meetings, forward-looking agendas, management information, actions and escalation
  • Maintaining an integrated and forward-looking view of the risk and control environment, bringing together relevant information from the business, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime and Internal Audit
  • Providing constructive challenge to business and control owners regarding the identification, assessment, management and escalation of risks, control weaknesses and emerging issues
  • Overseeing the management and continued development of the control frameworks
  • Supporting the businesses in conducting annual Risk and Control Self-Assessments across central, enterprise-wide and business-specific risks and controls
  • Maintaining oversight of the relevant risk and control inventories, ensuring that material risks and controls are appropriately documented, owned, assessed and kept current
  • Supporting improvements to the quality of controls and processes operated within the business, promoting a “control by design” approach to product development, process change and other business initiatives
  • Overseeing the management of identified audit findings, compliance testing actions, risk events and control weaknesses, including challenge of root cause, remediation plans, target dates and closure evidence
  • Supporting new product initiatives and material business or process changes affecting Banking and GTB
  • Contributing to the automation, digitalisation and simplification of risk-management and control activities, including improvements to management information, data quality and control monitoring

What you’ll bring:
