In this role, the QA Laboratory Technician will primarily evaluate HPS products in the Quality Assurance Laboratory to support timely and compliant product release. The technician will execute established analytical test methods, with an initial focus on fluorescence detection using a plate reader. There will also be opportunities to expand technical expertise into additional analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, and UV detection.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, consistent in executing routine laboratory procedures, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality, data integrity, and laboratory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Execute routine product acceptance and release testing within the Quality Assurance Laboratory using fluorescence detection and plate reader instrumentation to ensure products meet established specifications and quality requirements.
- Perform analytical testing in accordance with approved test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applicable laboratory protocols to support timely product release.
- Accurately document test results, observations, calculations, and laboratory activities in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and applicable quality system requirements.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory conditions, including cold storage temperatures, reagent and consumable inventory, equipment readiness, and general laboratory housekeeping, to ensure a safe and controlled testing environment.
- Identify, document, and promptly communicate out-of-specification results, unexpected test outcomes, equipment issues, and other laboratory deviations in accordance with established procedures.
- Support laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration activities, troubleshooting, and routine performance checks to ensure reliable and consistent analytical results.
- Develop proficiency in additional analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, and UV detection, as required to support evolving laboratory and production needs.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific discipline; equivalent relevant laboratory training and experience may also be considered.
Experience and Competencies
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when performing laboratory testing and documenting results.
- Ability to perform routine, repetitive laboratory activities consistently while maintaining quality, productivity, and compliance with established procedures.
- Hands-on experience with pipettes, plate readers, or similar analytical laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Ability to follow written procedures, interpret test instructions, and accurately record and review laboratory data.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize testing activities to support production schedules and product release requirements.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous laboratory experience in a Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), analytical, or production-support laboratory.
- Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), or laboratory quality systems.
- Exposure to analytical instrumentation or techniques such as fluorescence detection, UV detection, liquid chromatography, or mass spectrometry.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably within the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or analytical instrumentation industry.
