Role description:

In high voltage (HV) environments, safety is essential. An Energy Marshall is a professional who will be responsible for the safety of themselves and others in HV/MV/LV areas; the Energy Marshall must take steps to ensure HV/MV/LV equipment is safely isolated and safe to work on and is ultimately responsible as a senior figure for overseeing the work of Authorized Persons via audit and in-person review.

Our Energy Marshall will lead site electrical safety and plan; therefore, will have the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to make sure the electrical safety protocols are effectively managed and upheld. The role aims to improve site understanding of power systems at a senior authorized person level and covers statutory regulations and safe operation. The practical elements of the role will have you performing audits and cross-checking switching operations on real HV/MV/LV/ELV equipment, making sure the site is prepared in line with your place or work’s safety rules and regulations.

As an Energy Marshall, you will also be qualified to issue safety documents such as high voltage electrical permits to work.

You can be based either 100% in country, or there will be significant international travel to Finland (11/3 day rotations).

Role accountabilities:

• Develop and implement electrical safety documentation.
• Audit and review site switching schedules, including power on, isolation, and earthing of high voltage apparatus.
• Audit and review AP (Authorised person) Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, and Limitation of Access documents to ensure site progress complies with local Regulations.
• Attend client meetings, resolve operational issues, mentor team members, assist in creating outage programmes, and ensure compliance with local procedures and legislation.
• Take full responsibility for the site Electrical safety plan, engineering policy, procedure, and legislation, demonstrating sound decision-making skills.
• Work effectively within a team environment that includes clients, subcontractors, and project staff.
• Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant experience in a similar environment.

• Electrical Hazards and Precautions

• Arrangement of High Voltage Systems

• Operational and Safety Features of Switchgear

• High Voltage / Medium Voltage / Low Voltage Safety Rules

• Issue and Control of Safety Documentation - review and Audit

• Safety Lockout Procedures (Key Safes/Multihasps)

• Enforce Emergency Conditions

• Audit and reviewing switching, safety documents and switching programmes

• Fault Incidents process and closure with corrective actions

• Programme Review - key milestones
