Description
As the Product Owner of the Cash Me if You Can Team in USRM Finance, you will play a pivotal role in owning and evolving the Payments Processing and Collections capabilities within our billing and payments ecosystem. These capabilities sit at the heart of Liberty Mutual's receivables lifecycle ensuring accuracy of our customers’ financial transactions.
In this role, you will own the vision and roadmap for both the Payment Processing and Collections capabilities, partnering closely with stakeholders across Billing Operations, Reconciliation, and Collections to deliver capabilities that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and create a better experience for our customers and internal partners. You will also play a central role in the evaluation and selection of future Collections platform bringing together people with deep knowledge of current-state processes and future-state needs to ensure the chosen solution fully meets the needs of our Collections and Finance Operations partners. This role partners with the Hydra Payments Portfolio to ensure a seamless, end-to-end payments ecosystem, and serves as a key contributor to the multi-year flagship initiative to modernize USRM's billing systems.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborates to create product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with stakeholders. Contributes to the development of portfolio vision.
- Communicates product and portfolio vision to their squad/team and other squad/teams outside their portfolio/functional area.
- Demonstrate practical examples of leveraging AI to help with PO responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Billing Operations, Reconciliation, and Collections stakeholders, translating their needs into prioritized, well-defined work
- Partner closely with the Hydra Payments Portfolio to ensure alignment and end-to-end integrity across the payment ecosystem
- Support the multi-year billing modernization initiative, ensuring Collections and Payment Posting capabilities are represented in target-state design and migration planning
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of future Collections tools, ensuring future-state collections needs are fully met
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and customer support to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that balance customer value, operational efficiency, and technical health
- Define and track success measures, using data to inform prioritization and demonstrate delivered value
- With the squad/team, contribute towards achieving assigned product KPIs.
- Manages product(s) with a medium-high degree of strategy, scope, and complexity.
- Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents, prioritization, and acceptance criteria. Accountable for clear, actionable user stories.
- Sets priorities and actively participates in squad/team quarterly planning. Sets expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities.
- Participates in squad/team demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies.
- Works daily with the Agile team clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy.
- Contributes to aligning development and business goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution.
- Monitors and maintains the product health, supporting long-term product viability and efficiency, and balancing long and short term and costs with desired outcomes.
- Analyzes feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
- Understands regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints on the product and prioritizes accordingly.
- Negotiates with immediate squads/teams to ensure priorities are aligned in a portfolio.
- Contributes to customer-driven design and usability testing.
- Ensures a well-positioned product through market & industry analysis.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Product owner experience in finance/payments/billing
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data to make decisions
- Comfortable using GenAI to transform the way we work
- Cross functional collaboration experience
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
- Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
- Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills.
- Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
- Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
- Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.
