About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Cluster Operations Manager, you will oversee the operational management and performance of multiple data center facilities within a designated cluster. You will ensure the continuous and efficient operation of critical infrastructure, maintain high service delivery standards, and lead technical and operational teams responsible for delivering mission-critical services around the clock.

Your key responsibilities will include,

Operational Management

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple data centers within the cluster.
• Ensuring all systems and infrastructure operate reliably while meeting uptime objectives and customer service level agreements.
• Implementing and maintaining operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Managing incident response, troubleshooting, and service restoration activities.
• Measuring operational metrics, analyzing data, and identifying risks.

Team Leadership

• Leading, mentoring, and developing operations and technical teams.
• Coordinating shift teams to ensure effective 24/7 coverage and smooth handovers.
• Conducting training activities to support capability development and operational excellence.

Maintenance and Upgrades

• Planning and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensuring equipment and systems are maintained according to manufacturer and company standards.
• Coordinating with vendors and contractors during maintenance and upgrade projects.

Safety and Compliance

• Ensuring all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Maintaining documentation and operational records to support audits and certifications.
• Ensuring compliance with site accreditations such as ISMS and SOC2.

Customer Support

• Collaborating with customer support teams to deliver smart hands services.
• Addressing operational queries and issues while maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction.

Strategic Initiatives

• Supporting the Campus Director in implementing initiatives that improve operational performance and support growth.
• Participating in budget planning and cost management activities.

Requirements

Technical skills

• Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in data center operations, including 3–5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and network systems.
• Proven experience managing technical teams and 24/7 operational environments.

Soft skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is considered a benefit.
