Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Business Support Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £17.10 per hour
Summary:
Newport City Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to provide clerical and administrative support to the team leader and assist customers with enquiries. The role involves managing crematorium-related administration, processing payments, maintaining accurate records and supporting effective relationships with funeral directors, officiants and other service partners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the team leader.
- Respond to customer and partner enquiries in person, by telephone and in writing.
- Carry out a range of administrative tasks, including those associated with cremations.
- Receive payments for crematorium services, issue receipts and maintain accurate financial records in line with Council regulations.
- Assist customers with enquiries relating to funerals and memorials.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A–C), NVQ Level 2 or relevant experience.
- Working towards the ICCM Crematorium Certificate is desirable.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of two years' relevant experience dealing directly with customers and partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organise workloads and complete tasks to agreed standards.
- Understanding and sympathetic attitude towards bereaved families.
- Competence in Windows-based software.
