Your Role on Our Team

The Senior Vice President of Sourcing – North America, is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, execution, development, and organizational structure of the North American sourcing team that supports all Milwaukee Tool business units.  This key leader will closely partner with executive and functional leadership to ensure alignment and execution of their strategic goals.


You will be Empowered to effect change through these duties and responsibilities: 

  • Responsible to lead and drive all aspects of the sourcing function, including developing and managing a North American sourcing team, defining and articulating strategy and vision, negotiating, measuring and maintaining relationships with vendors, and optimizing total costs, quality, delivery, and safety.
  • Build and develop a high energy, talented sourcing team. Encourage open employee communication and engagement via development, training, and performance management.
  • Modeling and driving the Milwaukee culture through their team. 
  • Foster a continuous improvement, think big innovative culture through the organization and supply base.
  • Own the supplier relationship development and management for all Milwaukee Business Units.
  • Create sourcing strategies that reduce direct material cost and optimize quality, service, and working capital to achieve annual service, cost, quality capital and growth objectives.
  • Drive strategy and execution of parts localization into USA, Mexico, and Canada that support the needs of the operations and business units. 
  • Establish leadership, teams, metrics, and strategies for indirect spend for North America including Facilities, MRO, Office Supplies, Sales/Brand, Merchandizing, Capital.
  • Build out technology and solutions to track metrics and data real time to drive faster decision making and execution.  
  • Develop suppliers and explore joint development opportunities to deliver on aggressive new product goals.
  • Define and calculate vendor performance metrics. Meet with vendors periodically to review their performance based on quantitative metrics and develop strategy and plans to ensure suppliers continually improve their performance in quality, supply chain and cost.
  • Work closely with global teams to understand product requirements and develop appropriate sourcing strategies and tactics.
  • Identify suitable suppliers for the manufacturing of product platforms, acquire quote packages, and negotiate best total costs while ensuring achievement of quality, service, and innovation.
  • Develop detailed recommendations for capital, operating and staffing budgets. Provide fiscal oversight of allocated resources, assets, and expenses. Make necessary decisions to adjust for variations in projected budget income caused by fluctuating volumes and other external factors.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a technical field.  Advanced degree desirable. 
  • 15 or more years of strong progressive management experience in Sourcing or Supply Chain Operations role/function with Team leadership and Strategic Sourcing direction setting experience.  Strong experience supporting New Product Development.     
  • Proven ability to develop USA and Mexico based suppliers to enable core business strategies and performance metrics required.
  • Proven negotiating skills with very strong Project Leadership experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Ability to communicate candidly and encourage candid feedback from cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies for sourced materials.
  • Experience in a high volume, consumer product manufacturing environment desirable.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have: 

  • Working knowledge of contemporary manufacturing techniques (e.g., Lean / Six Sigma) required, proven ability to flow down into supply base with positive impact on KPI’s desirable.
  • Track record of utilizing technology to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Proven track record of strategic short and long-term planning as well as financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Skilled at effectively interfacing with employees at all levels in the organization.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership through influence.
  • Strong global citizenship awareness as it relates to culture and customs.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office computer systems and applications.
  • Resilience, stamina, motivation, and flexibility are needed as situations call for decisions, actions, and solutions that at times supersede a standard workday schedule.
  • 25% international travel required.
