Job Description:
The Production Administrative Operations Specialist supports the academic mission of the university by supporting Audio-visual needs for the campus community as it pertains to Unions and Centers facilities and other event venues. In encouragement of a strong campus community, with meaningful engagement opportunities, this position will develop and maintain the equipment rental process as well as supervise and grow the student staff which supports these efforts. This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of event support services and plays an integral role in the efficient and effective use of AV and other technology during critical involvement programs. This position is responsible for development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of the technology program for the department.

Currently hiring for the following shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Essential Duties:
- Working collaboratively with direct supervisor, providing maintenance and technical support for all meeting rooms, ballrooms and spaces within the Memorial Union and Student Pavilion primarily during after-hours and on weekends.
- Manage, supervise and train student workers and aid in their skill development and technical proficiencies. Recruit and assign staff ensuring that they possess and practice the values necessary to achieving a high level of program and service delivery.
- Communicate effectively with campus partners to meet rental needs.
- Develop internship pathways for student employees, in collaboration with both direct supervisor and Career Services.
- Analyze the operations budget to determine strategies for using technology, coordinating equipment purchases and interpreting project needs to identify tech needs and project specifications.
- Develop, in collaboration with direct supervisor, strategies to identify sustainable pathways for enhanced revenue generation to support program experience.
- Provides leadership in identifying hardware and software needs and purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with department needs and industry’s best practices.
- Organize and manage equipment rentals/reservation/checkout systems.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, modifications, installs of existing equipment and software while participating in identifying and making recommendations for operational improvements to increase the efficiency and efficacy of the program to support desired outcomes of the students.
- Participate in project proposals and budget preparation of equipment needs and new technologies.
- Assist clients in identifying equipment needs, and recommend appropriate audio equipment, instruments
- Monitors the reservation system to ensure that all audio-visual equipment at special event locations is set up efficiently and promptly according to schedule, while also monitoring time and location conflicts.
Desired Qualifications:
- General knowledge of music technology, hardware and software including DAW’s, plugins, synthesizers, interfaces, controllers, mics and other associated audio and recording equipment.
- General working knowledge of large format studio signal flow and associated troubleshooting techniques.
- General knowledge of visual media technology which includes cameras, lighting, digital displays, HDCP and EDID protocols.
- An organized and accountable individual who collaborates well with colleagues and students and performs tasks with acute attention to detail.
- A team player who can respectfully work with direct superior while also being able to work independently and take initiative.
- General knowledge of audio and video sync and distribution. General knowledge of basic video production and video camera functions.
- Familiarity with both Microsoft and Apple operating systems.
- Ability to maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with key campus and community partners ensuring lines of communication remain open and projects move forward in a timely manner.
Working Environment:
- Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard
- Attending meetings or events throughout campus.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
