Summary of Job Duties:

The Specialty Pharmacy Student Intern assists the Service with patient outreach, prescription fulfillment, prior authorizations and financial assistance for patients enrolled in the patient management program. This position is an educational training position for pharmacy students.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrolled or accepted into an ACPE accredited college/school of pharmacy
• Must work towards obtaining a Pharmacy Intern License within six months of hire
• Pharmacy Intern License by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy OR PharmacyTechnician License by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant pharmacy experience as a technician or intern (i.e. previous hospital experience, sterile compounding experience, hazardous drug handling, etc.)
• Specialized certificate/certification (i.e. PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate, etc.)
• Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and EMR experience)
• Strong math skills

Responsibilities:

• Perform most of the duties of a pharmacist under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the practical experience of day to day responsibilities.
• Practice skills in dispensing, prescription order processing,  verbal communication  and problem solving.
• Receive training in the Outpatient Pharmacy, MTM, and Meds to Beds along with opportunities to engage in projects and presentations.
• May performs other duties as assigned.
