Property Caretaker

About the role

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Property Caretaker to look after a large single-family home and its grounds. You will keep the home, grounds and equipment clean, well maintained and professional looking at all times. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys a variety of tasks from day to day.

Responsibilities

Grounds maintenance

• Mow, trim and care for lawns
• Plant and maintain flower beds, shrubs and landscaping
• Clear snow by snowblowing and plowing
• Paint and clean outdoor areas and structures as needed

Home upkeep

• Do light cleaning and keep outdoor areas tidy
• Arrange and clean outdoor furniture
• Clean the exterior of the home, including pressure washing
• Replace light bulbs and handle minor upkeep tasks
• Schedule and coordinate with vendors for repairs and maintenance, and oversee their work on site

Equipment

• Safely operate and maintain property equipment, including:
  • Lawn mowers, string trimmers and leaf blowers
  • Small skid loader and small farm tractor
  • Pressure washer
  • Pool equipment
  • A range of hand and power tools
• Keep all equipment clean, in good working order and properly stored

Other duties

• Complete additional tasks as requested by the homeowner

Requirements

Qualifications

• Experience in property maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping or a related field
• Comfortable operating lawn and landscaping equipment; skid loader and tractor experience preferred
• Pool maintenance experience a plus
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Able to do physical work outdoors in all seasons, including lifting and working in snow and heat
• Reliable, trustworthy and discreet in a private residence
• Strong attention to detail and able to work independently
• Flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings or weekends for snow removal and urgent needs

Compensation and benefits

• Starting salary of $50,000–$65,000 per year, depending on qualifications
