Job Description:
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an immediate career opportunity for an experienced Sr. MEP Project Manager to join our National Mission Critical team.
We are seeking a highly technical and collaborative Senior Project Manager (MEP Specialist) to lead the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection scopes of work for our hyperscale data center projects.
Some things you can expect to do:
MEP Technical Leadership & Execution
- Grid to Rack Ownership: Oversee the end-to-end execution of complex electrical distribution systems (utility substations, medium-voltage switchgear, UPS systems, generators) and mechanical systems (chilled water plants, CRAHs/AHUs, direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems).
- BMS/EPMS Integration: Direct the integration and programming coordination of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
- VDC Coordination: Champion the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC/BIM) spatial coordination process to ensure zero field clashes between heavy MEP systems and structural elements.
Commissioning (Cx) & Handover Management
- Partner with the third-party Commissioning Agent (CxA) and the client’s engineering team to lead the commissioning process from Level 1 (factory testing) through Level 5 (Integrated Systems Testing / IST).
- Ensure all MEP quality checklists, pre-functional testing (PFT), and functional testing (FT) documentation are meticulously maintained and executed.
Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain
- Manage the procurement, factory witness testing (FWT), delivery logistics, and rigging of high-value, Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) and Contractor-Furnished Contractor-Installed (CFCI) equipment.
- Proactively track supply chain risks and lead-time constraints for critical equipment, developing mitigation plans to protect the master schedule.
Financial, Contractual & Team Leadership
- P&L Responsibility: Own the MEP budget, managing large-scale equipment packages and specialty trade contracts to ensure maximum financial performance and accurate monthly forecasting.
- Contract Administration: Negotiate and draft highly specialized MEP trade scopes of work, change orders, and performance-based contract exhibits.
- Team Development: Directly lead, mentor, and build a team of MEP Project Managers, Project Engineers, and MEP Field Coordinators within a larger project environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 10+ years of mechanical and/or electrical construction management experience, with at least 5 years dedicated specifically to hyperscale or colocation data centers (or highly complex, MEP-heavy industrial environments like semiconductor plants, pharmaceutical facilities, or major hospitals).
- Commissioning Acumen: Deep familiarity with the data center commissioning sequence (Levels 1–5) and a proven track record of leading successful Integrated Systems Tests (IST).
- Contract & Financial Management: Demonstrated experience managing $100M+ MEP subcontracts, equipment purchase agreements, and complex change management processes.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical/field experience.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks/BIM software, and scheduling software (Primavera P6 and related collaboration tools).
