Description

Creativity. Innovation. A desire to effect positive change. That’s what it takes to work at Fuss & O’Neill – because that’s what we do for the communities in which we work: we create, innovate, and design long-lasting improvements that improve quality of life. Quality of life is also important on the job, so we’ve prioritized work-life balance by offering flexible/remote work opportunities, part-time benefits, and generous PTO. We believe that each day is an opportunity to support one another, to support our clients, and to support our communities. If you feel the same, then you’ve found your future.

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Professional with deep expertise in site investigation, remediation, and subsurface environmental services to join our growing team in Vermont. This is a leadership-oriented role focused on delivering high-quality environmental solutions while supporting strategic growth across state, municipal, and private sector clients.

This position is a key growth hire aimed at expanding our subsurface and environmental capabilities across Vermont and New Hampshire. You’ll play a critical role in building a local team presence, strengthening relationships with agencies and municipalities, and supporting impactful projects across the region—including on-call contracts and multidisciplinary efforts with environmental, civil, transportation, and hazmat teams.

In this role, you will lead and manage a wide range of environmental projects—including site investigations, remediation efforts, permitting, and brownfields redevelopment—while collaborating closely with internal leaders and technical teams to deliver exceptional results and drive continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level project management and technical leadership on environmental investigation and remediation projects
  • Lead projects involving site investigation, remediation, permitting, and brownfields redevelopment
  • Ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables aligned with regulatory requirements and firm standards
  • Support and drive business development efforts with state agencies, municipalities, and private clients
  • Collaborate with Market Leaders, Discipline Leaders, and Business Unit leadership to identify and pursue growth opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, particularly across Vermont and New Hampshire
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide technical staff supporting environmental projects
  • Contribute to the growth of subsurface services, including supporting on-call contracts and existing client programs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, Geoscience, or Environmental Science
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on site investigation and remediation
  • Professional licensure (PE or Professional Geologist) preferred
  • Proven experience delivering environmental services to Vermont and/or New Hampshire clients
  • Strong understanding of state environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership experience, including staff supervision
  • Established relationships with state regulators, municipal clients, or regional stakeholders is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, client management, and collaboration skills

This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. We're committed to supporting work-life balance while maintaining strong team connection and project delivery.
