Overview
Under general supervision, the Pipe Layer installs and repairs sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems. Responsibilities include preparing sewer pipes for installation, aligning and positioning for sealing, connecting pipe pieces, preparing trenches, laying pipe for storm or sanitary sewers, and assisting with other construction activities. The position requires working with welding equipment, cement, or glue, operating trenching tools, using pipe laying machinery and laser guidance equipment, and maintaining safety standards. Must be able to read blueprints and follow written instructions, with a requirement to obtain Class B CDL within 6 months.
