Description

The eSports Operations Specialist serves as a key role in Campus Recreation Operations, supporting both the operational infrastructure and the competitive success of the competitive program. This position leads the logistical planning and execution of competitive team operations, facility management, event coordination, and summer programming. In addition, this role supports outreach and recruitment initiatives through the execution of tournaments, leagues, and community-facing events, assists in supervision of operational student staff, and contributes to the coaching and development of competitive eSports teams. Additionally, the position will also oversee basic management of The Hartman Union Building and be the lead professional staff member during nighttime hours.

Duties/Responsibilities 

(30%)

  • Coordinate the Esports Program from all aspects.

  • Recreational coordination includes management of the space, technology, and student workforce, and competitively by managing all administrative operations required to be involved with the Eastern College Athletics Conference (ECAC), coaching and managing teams, assisting with live broadcasts, as well as overseeing promotion signups/tryouts.

  • Management of 4-5 eSports supervisors & 20+ eSports Assistants, payroll for student employees.

  • Create and facilitate workshops, clinics, and in- service training sessions pertaining to sports/recreational activities for student staff.

(20%)

  • Student programming events focusing on retention and persistence while starring during recruiting events and orientation.

(15%)

  • Server maintenance and connection with ggLeap Services to ensure continued successes and leadership for the Competitive Team development.

(10%)

  • Late-night HUB supervision and professional staff availability to close the building regularly and offers an on-sight professional staff emergency contact during evening shifts for student workers. 

  • Assist with room resets, running end-of-day reports, and ensuring the building is closed properly.  

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in esports operations, event management, facility management, coaching, or related areas.

  • Demonstrated experience managing logistics, facilities, or event operations

  • Strong understanding of at least one competitive esports title (e.g., Rocket League, League of Legends, Call of Duty, Valorant)

  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, logistical, and project management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage complex operational systems and meet multiple deadlines

  • Commitment to customer service and team-oriented leadership

  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop student staff

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose technical or operational challenges

  • Ability to work collaboratively within an academic and competitive gaming environment

  • Adaptability and capacity to learn new technologies, platforms, and competitive systems

  • Professionalism and ability to represent Plymouth State at institutional, regional, and national levels.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing gaming facilities or competitive event operations

  • Experience supervising and mentoring student staff

  • Experience planning tournaments, livestreams, or broadcast production

Compensation Pay Range:

$16.05 - $26.37
