Job Description:

The Child Welfare Research and Training Project (CWRTP), within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is seeking a Program Specialist III – PIAL+ADMYRE Coordinator.

The Program Specialist III – PIAL+ADMYRE Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivery of statewide in‑person and virtual youth outreach programs (PIAL and ADMYRE), ensuring smooth logistics and high-quality implementation. The position supervises, mentors and supports a team of student workers and staff members, manages projects and develops efficient processes. The role requires maintaining strong partnerships, clear communication, timely follow-through, and problem-solving to address challenges effectively. Additionally, the position includes exploring and developing new growth avenues for PIAL and ADMYRE.

PIAL stands for Preparing Individuals for Adulthood and Life. ADMYRE stands for Advocating for My Relationships.

Example of duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate all logistical aspects of implementation of in-person and online PIAL and ADMYRE programs statewide in schools and youth-serving organizations.
  • Utilize Smartsheet for project management, assign tasks, and monitor progress from initiation to completion, create processes for efficiency and to ensure high quality outreach experiences.
  • Hire, onboard, supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate a team of student workers and a full-time P&S staff member(s).
  • Manage and review all creative materials being produced (print, digital, social media) and facilitation of curriculum to ensure it aligns with outreach program outcomes.
  • Delegate tasks to other full-time staff, reviewing and approving the completed products
  • Build positive, productive relationships with middle/high school personnel, youth-serving organizations, and state/federal representatives.
  • Follow through with requests in a timely manner, providing clear communication, troubleshoot complex issues as they arise, finding mutually agreed upon solutions.

This is a fixed-term position with an end date of 6/30/2027, with the opportunity for renewal.

Travel for outreach events is required in this position. This position is hybrid, including working on the ISU campus and ISU Research Park in Ames.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading outreach programming, preferably involving youth-focused services
  • Experience supervising and mentoring individuals or teams
  • Experience training and coaching staff and/or student workers
  • Experience utilizing Smartsheet or a similar project management tool

The Child Welfare Research and Training Project (CWRTP) at Iowa State University partners with the State of Iowa and community organizations to develop, deliver, and evaluate human services programming grounded in science and best practices. Its work focuses on training professionals, providing outreach and technical support, and conducting research and evaluation to improve outcomes. Ultimately, CWRTP’s mission is to promote the well-being and safety of Iowa’s children, youth, and families through high-quality, evidence-based services.
