Pharmacy Systems Coordinator

Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

Permanent 

Full time 37.5 hours p/w

The pharmacy service is open on Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 2.30pm

How you’ll help us make health happen:

In this role you will work within Pharmacy and collaboratively across the hospital to provide training, technical support and resolve issues for all users of the Pharmacy IT Systems.  

  • Participate in the implementation of upgrades of pharmacy IT systems; Current systems include Pyxis ES, Ascribe, Digitrak, Compucare and Powergate.

  • The post holder will support implementation, utilisation and maintenance of pharmacy related clinical IT systems, ensure accurate maintenance of electronic drug files, develop and maintain databases and provide accurate reporting.

  • To ensure accurate cost prices are held and contract prices are input within the systems, assist billing and provide near real time price updates.

  • To ensure accurate processing of supplier invoices and liaising with Accounts Payable where appropriate using the General Finance Interface.

  • To generate reports from pharmacy systems, including Carefusion ES, Ascribe SSRS reporter, Phillips ICCA, Compucare and Digitrak, to report on financial, inventory and usage information.

  • The post holder will investigate and resolve complex IT problems; deal with unanticipated issues escalating to the IT team and/or Chief Pharmacist where necessary.

  • To maintain and develop the Compucare drug files and attend to system issues in a timely manner and ensure accurate description and pricing detail is held in Compucare.

  • To support drug charging reconciliation, including dispensaries and Theatre charges, to assist increased revenue capture opportunities for the department / hospital.

  • To ensure that prescriptions / archived pharmacy documentation is maintained and stored appropriately in accordance with the law, on site as well as in outside storage facilities. Ensure documentation and procedures are updated regularly

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Relevant experience working in a UK pharmacy environment.

  • Advanced IT skills

  • Pyxis ES System manager trained desirable

  • Ascribe System Manager trained desirable

  • Experience of working in an IT support role and proven experience in the use of Compucare desirable

  • Proven experience of successfully training staff or managing a team.

  • Ability to learn new technologies with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to analyse and resolve IT issues: troubleshooting skills.

  • Able to prioritise and meet deadlines

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
