Senior Product Stewardship Specialist - Extended Producer Responsibility (Hybrid - Acton, MA)

Position Overview 

The Sr. Product Stewardship Specialist supports Insulet’s global environmental compliance programs with a primary focus on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This role leads operational execution of global EPR obligations, manages data and reporting workflows, and partners with internal cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance. The specialist is responsible for monitoring evolving EPR regulations for packaging, batteries, and electronic devices, assessing business impacts, and driving implementation strategies. This position also contributes to long‑term product stewardship, sustainability planning, and continuous improvement of Insulet’s global compliance framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Lead global EPR compliance — Implement and manage EPR programs for packaging, batteries, WEEE, and emerging regulations across all applicable markets. 

• Serve as EPR subject matter expert — Provide regulatory guidance, best practices, and training to cross functional teams and regional sites. 

• Interpret and monitor regulations — Track evolving global EPR requirements, assess business impacts, and translate regulations into actionable compliance strategies. 

• Manage registrations and reporting — Oversee PRO onboarding, permitting, data validation, and timely submission of EPR reports. 

• Develop tools and processes — Build and maintain systems, templates, and workflows for accurate packaging and sales data collection and reporting. 

• Drive internal data readiness — Coordinate with business units, factories, and sales teams to improve data quality, align reporting, and ensure consistent global practices. 

• Lead internal education and communication — Deliver training, webinars, and communication materials to simplify complex regulatory requirements for broad internal audiences. 

• Collaborate with external partners — Work with global EPR service providers, PROs, and regulatory bodies to ensure accurate reporting and compliance alignment. 

• Support sustainability and cost strategy — Develop implementation plans, evaluate packaging decisions, and assess financial impacts to support sustainability and cost‑reduction goals. 

• Maintain compliance documentation — Prepare audit‑ready records, respond to customer/regulator inquiries, and support internal and external compliance reviews. 

Preferred Skills and Competencies:  

• Global EPR expertise — Strong knowledge of global product stewardship and EPR requirements for packaging, batteries, electronics, and medical devices (e.g., WEEE, EU Battery Regulation, PPWR, Canadian stewardship, U.S. state battery laws). 

• Sustainability and eco-design awareness — Familiarity with emerging sustainability and eco‑design regulations such as EUDR and ESPR. 

• Regulatory interpretation skills — Ability to analyze complex regulatory requirements, assess business impacts, and communicate implications clearly. 

• PRO and compliance program experience — Proven experience working with Producer Responsibility Organizations and managing EPR compliance programs. 

• Process and controls development — Experience building and implementing compliance processes, controls, and reporting frameworks. 

• Analytical and problem-solving ability — Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex datasets and regulatory requirements. 

• Project management capability — Effective planning, execution, progress tracking, and stakeholder communication. 

• Cross functional collaboration — Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across diverse internal teams and external stakeholders. 

• Attention to detail — High commitment to data quality, accuracy, and documentation integrity.

Education & Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.  

• 3–7 years of experience in product stewardship, EPR, or regulatory operations 

• Experience with packaging data, BOM structures, supplier data collection, or PRO reporting 

• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills 

• Proven experience analyzing complex global regulatory requirements and translating them into actionable business and compliance deliverables 

• Experience working cross functionally in regulated industries (medical device, pharma, consumer electronics) 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet).
