Description:

AHRI is looking for two (2) dynamic Enrolled Research Nurses who will be responsible for the implementation of the ATTIS study and conduct household visits at the King Cetshwayo and North uMkhanyakude Districts. The incumbents will provide clinical care to research participants and ensure clinical governance standards are met in line with Good Clinical Practice guidelines. The incumbents are also required to provide informed consent, collect and maintain quality data according protocol requirements. The role requires incumbents with comprehensive technical knowledge related to clinical research, who has an efficient and systematic approach, with the capacity to grow, learn and multitask. The incumbents will need to form and maintain relationships with DOH facilities, community and other organisation where participants for the study will be recruited.

Overview of duties

  • Implementation of the ATTIS protocols.
  • Compliance with research procedures.
  • Obtaining informed consent from participants enrolling in the study.
  • Collection of specimens from research participants.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team and carry out any other duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year enrolled nursing certificate.
  • Current registration with SANC as a registered nurse.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Minimum Experience

  • 2 years recognizable nursing experience after registration as an enrolled nurse with SANC, of which at least 1 year must be experience working in a field-based data collection project.
  • Experience in TB/HIV care.
  • Experience with phlebotomy.
  • Familiarity with clinical research data collection using electronic data entry systems.
  • Clinical research experience.


Skills Required

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and isiZulu.
  • Accuracy and precision.
  • High computer literacy (MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Report writing.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
