Description
[What the role is]
The System Stability and Planning Department performs advanced engineering studies and long-term technical planning to ensure the electric power grid remains safe, secure, and reliable. They evaluate how the power system responds to severe disturbances (faults, generator trips) and design the grid's future architecture as new energy sources are added.[What you will be working on]
- Review and assess transmission network development plans to ensure compliance with transmission planning criteria and the secure and reliable operation of the electricity system.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, contingency, fault level and stability analyses, to assess network performance and system impacts.
- Assess the impact of new transmission developments, generation facilities, electricity imports, major electricity consumers and emerging technologies on the electricity system.
- Review transmission planning studies, system impact assessments and technical submissions from transmission licensees and other stakeholders.
- Support the development and review of transmission planning criteria, technical standards and grid connection requirements.
- Support the assessment and integration of new transmission technologies and solutions, including energy storage systems (ESS), HVDC and other emerging technologies, into the electricity system.
- Support long-term transmission network planning and technical assessments relating to power system reliability, adequacy and resilience.
- Liaise with transmission licensees and other stakeholders on transmission planning, grid connection and power system assessment matters.
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant engineering background or specialization.
- Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Power system studies and analysis (e.g. power flow, contingency, fault level and stability studies);
- Transmission network planning, system impact assessments or grid connection studies;
- Integration of renewable energy resources, energy storage systems and other emerging power system technologies.
- A responsible and proactive team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
