What's the role?
As a key member of the Commercial Finance team, this role serves as the strategic finance partner to the GM Production Operations, delivering commercial insight, financial control and decision support across News Corp Australia’s national production network.
The role is critical to lead financial strategy for Production, including multi-site operating model decisions, labour model optimisation, optimising print-site economics, third-party print profitability, long-term footprint decisions and capital investment prioritisation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager of Finance - Publishing Operations and lead a team of two direct reports (including one based in our offshore Hub in India), working closely with print site leaders and stakeholders across FP&A, Financial Accounting, and Group Reporting.
Responsibilities
Own the financial performance agenda for the national production network, partnering with senior operational leaders to shape decisions that improve long-term operating sustainability.
Act as the senior strategic finance partner to the GM Production Operations, influencing business direction through commercial insight, constructive challenge, and high-quality decision support.
Lead the development of commercial strategies, business cases, capex proposals, and financial models that support multi-site optimisation, automation, labour model decisions, and long-term investment prioritisation.
Drive financial performance by challenging labour and FTE outcomes, improving print-site economics, enhancing third-party print profitability, and identifying opportunities to optimise margins and operating efficiency.
Lead the annual budget, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, while overseeing the delivery of weekly and monthly reporting to translate operational and financial performance into clear insights and actions.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team across onshore and hub support, while ensuring a strong controls and compliance environment is maintained.
Who are you?
CA/CPA qualified with 10+ years of experience (including a minimum of 5+ years in leadership roles), featuring extensive commercial finance experience gained in FMCG, Manufacturing, or similarly focused organisations.
An exceptional communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to constructively challenge and influence at a senior level.
A proven leader with demonstrated experience in building, coaching, and developing high-performing finance teams.
A commercially minded individual with strong business acumen, supported by a proactive continuous improvement mindset.
Highly capable of interpreting complex data requests into actionable insights for non-financial audiences, backed by a proven track record in report automation, reporting uplift, and process simplification.
A resilient professional who has the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
