About the role
AI is rapidly transforming how we support our customers and team members, and this is your opportunity to help shape what comes next.
As an AI Engineer within our Data, AI & Loyalty team, you'll play a key role in building and scaling AI-enabled solutions that deliver real business value across Bunnings. Working with modern cloud technologies, machine learning and generative AI, you'll partner with teams across the organisation to turn ideas into practical, impactful outcomes.
This is a role where technical excellence meets business impact. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, product teams and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that are scalable, measurable and aligned to strategic priorities.
What's involved
This is a hands-on engineering role with the opportunity to contribute across both technical delivery and business engagement.
You will:
Design, build and enhance AI-enabled products, platforms and data solutions that support customers and team members across the business
Partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into meaningful technical outcomes
Help identify, measure and communicate the value delivered through AI initiatives, ensuring a strong commercial focus
Contribute to engineering standards, best practices and frameworks that support safe, reliable and high-quality delivery
Explore emerging AI capabilities and assess where they can create genuine business benefit
Work collaboratively across a cross-functional, matrix environment, bringing together product, engineering, data and business teams to achieve shared outcomes
Support and mentor fellow engineers through collaboration, knowledge sharing and technical guidance
Continuously improve solution performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency
About You
You're an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering outcomes that make a tangible difference. You combine strong technical capability with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, helping bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions.
You thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy working across multiple teams and can navigate ambiguity while maintaining focus on value and outcomes. Just as importantly, you're curious about the evolving AI landscape and excited by opportunities to apply new technologies in practical ways.
You'll be joining a supportive team that values learning, experimentation and shared success.
What you'll need
Strong software engineering experience with a track record of delivering AI-enabled solutions into production environments
Hands-on development experience using languages such as Python, C# or Scala
Practical experience with machine learning, generative AI and modern AI frameworks
Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Azure or GCP
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with commercial outcomes and measurable business value
Experience working effectively within Agile and cross-functional matrix teams
A collaborative mindset and passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
You’ll be part of a workplace where you’ll feel like you belong.
