Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Patient Access Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking behavioral health and primary care services.
In this role, you'll help connect people with the care they need by answering calls, gathering information, scheduling appointments, providing resources, and ensuring every interaction reflects empathy, professionalism, and respect.

Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls professionally while creating a welcoming, recovery-oriented experience for every individual.
- Schedule appointments and accurately collect demographic, insurance, and referral information.
- Assist callers in navigating available programs, services, and community resources.
- Enter and maintain accurate information within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Verify demographic, insurance, and financial information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Coordinate communication with clinical staff to support timely access to care.
- Monitor incoming referrals, documentation, and scheduling requests.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports and documentation.
- Participate in training, quality improvement initiatives, and department meetings.
- Promote Chestnut's commitment to outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality of all client and organizational information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Candidates may qualify through one of the following pathways:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience providing excellent customer service in healthcare, behavioral health, human services, call center, medical office, scheduling, or a related environment preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate while managing multiple priorities.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality.

- Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
