Estherville Community Care Center is looking for a full-time dietary aide! 

Job Title: Dietary Aide

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and maintaining a clean, safe dining environment for residents in a long-term care facility. This position plays an important role in supporting residents' nutritional needs while providing courteous, compassionate service that promotes dignity and quality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assemble meals according to approved menus and therapeutic diets.
• Set up dining rooms and prepare food trays for meal service.
• Deliver meals and snacks to residents promptly and accurately.
• Assist residents during mealtimes as assigned while encouraging independence and respecting resident dignity.
• Follow special diet orders and portion control guidelines.
• Stock food, beverages, and supplies as needed.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, dining rooms, food carts, and equipment according to infection control and sanitation standards.
• Properly store food items following food safety regulations
• Monitor food temperatures and document as required.
• Dispose of trash and recyclables according to facility procedures. 
• Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, or safety concerns to the Dietary Manager.
• Follow all federal, state, local, and facility policies regarding food safety, infection prevention, and resident rights.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accords with HIPPA regulations.
• Attend required staff meetings and mandatory in-service training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food service experience in healthcare or long-term care preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates compassion, patience, and respect when interacting with elderly residents. 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. 
• Frequent bending, reaching, stooping and twisting
• Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
• Manual dexterity to safely operate food service equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Long-term care or skilled nursing facility environment.
• Exposure to commercial kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, heat, steam, and refrigerated areas.
• May work weekends, holidays, evenings and rotating shifts.

Certifications:

• Must successfully complete required background screening and health requirements.
