Description
The National Energy Foundation (NEF) is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to cultivating energy literacy among K-12 students, teachers and families. NEF achieves its mission by developing and implementing STEM-based energy education programs that focus on energy efficiency and safety, electric transportation, energy workforce development and other current energy topics.
Your Role as an Energy Educator
You will play an important role in NEF’s mission and make a difference in the lives of students and teachers. Energy Educators conduct instructional presentations in classrooms or online. It is a part-time, seasonal, contract-based position. Energy Educators will sign an employment contract for the presenting season and have no guarantee of contract renewal. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Nothing in this job description constitutes a contract of employment. NEF is an at-will employer.
Key Responsibilities
Energy Educator Training:
- Learn program content of basic energy sources, processes and energy efficiency
Presentation Responsibilities:
- Interact with students in an enthusiastic manner
- Understand, adhere to and work toward the NEF energy educator manual performance areas
- Communicate with strong vocal projection
- Work individually or on a two-person team
- Utilize Keynote, PowerPoint and online presentations/equipment technology
- Represent NEF and sponsors in a professional manner
- Adherence to the NEF and sponsoring organizations contagious illness policies
- Adherence to NEF energy educator manual professionalism standards
Skills & Qualifications
- Classroom teaching experience or prior work with children is desirable
- Ability to use Apple software and various technologies independently for implementation of programs (Training will be provided.)
- Ability to supply own transportation to schools where presentations occur
- Current driver’s license and personal auto insurance coverage
- Ability to travel by air/car
- Ability to present multiple programs by yourself
- Personal credit card required for travel expense charges
- Availability for training session when needed
- Willingness to comply with all school security/safety procedures
- Ability to carry forty pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Adherence to NEF dress code
- Ability to represent sponsoring organizational needs in a customer-forward manner
- Signing of NEF code of conduct required each year
- Background checks required
- Drug testing may be conducted randomly
- Hiring may be subject to sponsor approval
