Description
A leading client is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to take ownership of financial management across large-scale project environments. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced engineering, construction, or project-based environment and has a proven ability to deliver financial control, improve cash flow, and drive business performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee project costing processes, ensuring labour, materials, and project budgets are accurately monitored to maximise profitability.
- Manage contract billing cycles, including milestone-based invoicing, progress billing, and retention payments.
- Monitor project cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for payroll, subcontractors, equipment rentals, and operational requirements.
- Prepare annual budgets and provide ongoing financial forecasts aligned to active project pipelines.
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls, ensuring compliance while mitigating financial and operational risks.
- Lead year-end financial close processes and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax authorities.
- Deliver accurate financial reporting and provide commercial insights that support strategic business decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Professional qualification such as CA(SA) or CIMA.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting or financial management, with strong exposure to project accounting within engineering, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of financial accuracy and compliance.
