Description

Licensed Primary Therapist

On Site | Davie or Boca Raton, FL | Full-Time | Schedule: 12:00pm to 8:00pm

About the Role

You are the clinical owner of each client's treatment experience at AWA. From intake through discharge, you lead assessment, treatment planning, individual and family therapy, and case coordination — while helping build the culture and clinical standards of a brand-new program from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join a founding team and shape something meaningful from day one.

Backgrounds that translate well: Adolescent Mental Health · PHP/IOP · Community Mental Health · School-Based Counseling · Residential Treatment

What You'll Do

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy for adolescents in PHP/IOP
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments, diagnoses, and master treatment plans at intake
  • Lead each case from a multidisciplinary lens in collaboration with psychiatry, case management, and external providers
  • Communicate weekly with families regarding clinical progress and expectations
  • Monitor treatment progress and adjust plans when progress stalls or clinical needs shift
  • Facilitate assigned groups and participate in clinical meetings and case conceptualization
  • Support crisis intervention as needed; coordinate with clinical leadership on escalations
  • Coordinate discharge and aftercare planning with families and outside providers
  • Complete all documentation within required timeframes and compliance standards

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern or Licensed Clinician (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) in Florida
  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy
  • 2+ years of experience in adolescent mental health or PHP/IOP settings
  • Bilingual required: English and Spanish or Portuguese
  • Skilled in CBT, DBT, MI, and family systems approaches
  • Confident leading groups, engaging resistant teens, and navigating complex family dynamics
  • Eligible for DCF and AHCA Level 2 background screening and drug test
  • Organized, grounded, and genuinely invested in adolescent outcomes

AWA is an adolescent mental health organization operating PHP and IOP programs across South Florida. We exist to serve teens and families at their most critical moments — and this role leads that work clinically every day.
