About the Role

As a Hardware engineer you will focus on Hardware development and software testing of automotive infotainment computer systems, automotive platforms, functional block design.

What You Will Do

  • Development, test and verification of analog and digital functional blocks (e.g. power supplies, Audio blocks, MCU/SoC units) within complex hardware architectures under considering of quality, cost and suitability for series.
  • Test and analysis of application and driver software in infotainment computer systems with the aim to ensure correct functionality of software with dedicated hardware.
  • Support in design, creation and implementation of software and hardware for infotainment computer systems.
  • Creation of measurement reports and technical documentation.
  • Schematic entry and variant management.
  • Evaluation of requirements and feasibility as well as the assistance in System Design / HW realization.
  • Assisting in the technical requirements specification of purchased parts of telematics & connectivity functional blocks and in the evaluation and selection of suitable supplier.
  • Assisting in the judgment of software feature fulfillment in dedicated hardware blocks.
  • Basic knowledge in command shell programming and shell debugging (e.g. routines to control hardware units under Harman operating system).
  • Familiar with revision control systems (eg perforce for check-in/check-out).
  • Knowledge of commonly used interfaces in infotainment systems (PCIe, UART, TDM, Video-, I2C, I2S, USB) appreciated.
  • Realization of system designs, schematics and/or schematics integration of hardware applications in the range of medium to high complexity under consideration of Harman guidelines.
  • Global cooperation with other departments as Construction, Quality, Manufacturing and Software during the development process.
  • Maintenance support.
  • Technical support for internal and/or external staff in the industrialization of function items in an international environment.
  •  Perform technical measurements on customer site ( EMC, Thermal, functional).
  • Schematic integration for low to medium complexity projects
  • Design verification and Bring-up activities
  • Create project documentation for projects involved in
  • Redesign of existing analog/digital functional blocks according to change requests (customer change requests, PCN, PTN …)
  • Support RFI/RFQ phase for new projects
  • Support BIOS activities (timings, power up and power down sequences, etc)
  • Support for Schematic and Layout reviews

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical engineering, Information Technology or appropriate graduation or technician).
  • 1 up to 3 years professional experience in the HW development and verification of analog/digital applications and standalone functional units.
  • Knowledge of Hardware and Software Technology, ideally in embedded area.
  • Basic knowledge of programming software (i.e. C#, C++, LabView, VB…).
  • Knowledge of tools for schematic/layout realization and simulation (e.g. Mentor Graphics, SPICE, Ansys) as well as Microsoft applications.
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (i.e. Linux, Android).
  • Knowledge of the requirements inside the automotive area, especially for EMC.
  • Good knowledge in spoken and written English.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience with infotainment/ entertainment systems (it would be a big plus).
  • Basic Linux knowledge.
  • Knowledge of commonly used interfaces in infotainment systems (PCIe, UART, TDM, Video, I2C, I2S, USB, MOST, SDIO …) appreciated.
  •  Experience with hardware debugging and using lab tools.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Very good English knowledge, both written and verbal.
  • Proactivity and good communication skills.
  • Excellent task and time management.
  • Attention to detail and “can do” attitude.
  • Flexibility
  • Highly organized and multitasking.
  • Analytical & critical thinking.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
