At NewDay, we're committed to helping people move forward with credit. As a Senior Specialist in our Impairment Reporting & Insights team, you'll deliver IFRS 9 impairment and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) reporting that supports key business decisions across Credit, Risk and Finance.
You'll combine technical expertise with strong storytelling skills to analyse impairment performance, explain key drivers and present insights to senior stakeholders. Working closely with teams across the business, you'll help shape understanding of portfolio performance while developing deep expertise in a highly valued area of credit risk.
How you'll contribute
Deliver monthly IFRS 9 impairment and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) reporting, ensuring results are accurate, insightful and provided within agreed timelines.
Analyse impairment movements and model outputs, translating complex findings into clear business-focused insights for senior stakeholders.
Develop and maintain impairment monitoring, reporting frameworks and management information that support effective portfolio oversight.
Prepare high-quality reporting packs and presentations for committees and leadership forums across Credit, Risk and Finance.
Partner with Finance, Collections, Credit Risk and Strategy teams to investigate performance trends and support business decision-making.
Support the continuous improvement of impairment reporting, insight generation and governance processes while sharing knowledge with colleagues across the team.
We're looking for these essential skills
Strong understanding of IFRS 9 impairment methodologies, Expected Credit Loss (ECL) principles and key impairment drivers.
Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret large datasets using tools such as SQL, Python, SAS and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, explain results and communicate clear recommendations.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate outputs within challenging deadlines.
Confident stakeholder management and presentation skills, with experience communicating complex technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of consumer lending portfolios, including credit cards, unsecured loans or other retail lending products.
It's a Plus If You Also Have These Skills
Experience monitoring, validating or reviewing credit risk or impairment models.
Knowledge of macroeconomic drivers and their impact on impairment and ECL outcomes.
Ability to create engaging presentations and reporting materials for senior leadership and governance committees.
Experience working closely with Finance and Risk functions within a regulated financial services environment.
Strong documentation skills, including the ability to produce clear methodologies, analysis and governance materials.
Experience coaching or supporting the development of less experienced analysts.
Externally this role may also be known as Senior IFRS 9 Analyst, Expected Credit Loss (ECL) Analyst, IFRS 9 Reporting Specialist, Credit Risk Analytics Specialist or Impairment Insights Analyst.
