Description
Are you passionate about fitness and looking to start a career in personal training?
Midtown is seeking energetic, people-focused individuals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the fitness industry. This role is designed for aspiring coaches who want to learn, grow, and develop the skills necessary to build a successful career as a Personal Trainer.
At Midtown, we believe in helping our coaches become Better Than Yesterday through mentorship, education, and real-world experience.
The Position
All new coaches begin as a Coach on Duty (COD). This role serves as the foundation of your development at Midtown and provides an opportunity to learn our culture, connect with members, and gain valuable coaching experience before taking on a larger personal training presence within the club.
As a Coach on Duty, you'll spend your time on the fitness floor walking the club, interacting with members, answering questions, providing exercise guidance, ensuring a welcoming environment, and helping members have a positive experience every time they visit.
While Coach on Duty shifts will make up the majority of your responsibilities as you begin your career at Midtown, you will also have opportunities to develop your personal training clientele within the club. As your experience and confidence grow, you'll begin working with members in one-on-one and small group training settings, applying what you learn through mentorship, continuing education, and hands-on coaching experience. Through meaningful member interactions and exceptional service, you'll gradually grow your coaching skills, reputation, and client base.
Our goal is to help you develop the skills, relationships, and confidence needed to become a successful Personal Trainer.

At Midtown, we are committed to developing future fitness professionals.
You'll have access to:
- Free and significantly discounted continuing education opportunities
- Mentorship from experienced fitness professionals

- Win Together
- Glass Half Full
- Kind
- Better Than Yesterday

- Passion for fitness, coaching, and helping others
- Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, and at least one weekend day
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week as a Coach on Duty
- Coach on Duty shifts are scheduled in blocks of 4 hours or less
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ideal Candidate
You love being around people, enjoy helping others succeed, and have a growth mindset. You're eager to learn from experienced professionals, gain real-world coaching experience, and build the foundation for a long-term career in fitness.
The ideal candidate is someone who embraces hard work, takes initiative, and understands that every interaction is an opportunity to learn and grow. You'll be willing to contribute wherever needed, whether the club is bustling with activity or experiencing a slower period. You take pride in supporting the overall member experience, helping with day-to-day operational tasks, and doing the work that keeps a club running smoothly.
You are coachable, dependable, and excited to develop meaningful relationships with members. As you build your skills and confidence, you'll have opportunities to grow your client base through personal training and small group coaching while learning from some of the industry's most experienced fitness professionals.
If you're looking for a place to launch your fitness career, learn from industry veterans, and join a team that believes in being Kind, maintaining a Glass Half Full outlook, striving to be Better Than Yesterday, and helping each other Win Together, we'd love to meet you.
