About the Edelman Associate Practice
The Edelman Associate Practice is the foundation of our client service talent and the launchpad for early-career professionals who want to shape the future of communications. Bringing together emerging talent across communications, public affairs, and advisory disciplines, the practice is designed to develop well-rounded, integrated practitioners from day one. Associates contribute meaningfully to client work across industries and sectors—building strong fundamentals in research, writing, project management, and media engagement—while gaining exposure to diverse clients and capabilities. Rather than being confined to a single track at the start of their careers, Associates are empowered to explore, collaborate across teams, and discover where their interests and strengths can make the greatest impact.
Rooted in community and driven by growth, the Associate Practice combines hands-on client experience with structured development, peer connection, and dedicated leadership support. As the industry evolves, so does the role—blending operational excellence with increasing strategic contribution and AI-enabled innovation. Associates learn not only how to execute exceptional work, but how to think critically, solve complex problems, and build the judgment and confidence that define Edelman excellence. This is more than a first step in your career—it’s an opportunity to grow alongside a connected cohort, contribute to transformative client work, and help redefine what modern communications looks like.
About the Role
Edelman is looking for a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join our U.S. Health team, supporting integrated communications programs for a leading global pharmaceutical client.
This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare communications professional ready to take greater ownership of client work, contribute to strategic discussions, and help deliver high-quality communications across complex therapeutic areas.
In this role, you'll work across respiratory and immunology, managing assigned workstreams, developing compelling communications materials, and serving as a trusted day-to-day partner to clients and internal teams.
We're looking for someone who brings strong writing and editing skills, sound judgment, and the confidence to manage client deliverables with increasing independence. Previous healthcare or pharmaceutical communications experience is strongly preferred, particularly exposure to clinical data milestones, regulatory communications, or pharmaceutical brand initiatives.
Your day-to-day work may include:
- Taking ownership of assigned client workstreams, proactively managing timelines, deliverables, and internal review processes.
- Developing and refining high-quality press releases, key messages, briefing materials, and communications supporting clinical data and brand milestones.
- Leading assigned agenda items during client meetings, providing updates, and proactively identifying next steps or potential challenges.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams to support integrated communications programs across respiratory and immunology.
- Supporting strategic planning, executive visibility, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Managing materials through regulatory review and approval processes, including Veeva submissions, while maintaining accurate reporting and tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Account Ownership
- Serve as a reliable day-to-day client contact for assigned projects, managing deliverables and ensuring alignment with client priorities.
- Take ownership of assigned workstreams, anticipate needs, and proactively communicate progress, risks, and recommendations.
- Lead portions of client meetings and confidently discuss project updates, deliverables, and next steps, with senior team support as needed.
Strategic Planning & Program Execution
- Contribute to communications strategy, message development, and tactical recommendations that support client objectives.
- Coordinate integrated program execution across multiple workstreams, managing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
- Partner with creative, digital, media, and other internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
Content Development & Storytelling
- Independently develop and refine press releases, key messages, executive briefings, stakeholder materials, and communications related to clinical or regulatory milestones.
- Translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, accurate, and compelling narratives tailored to different audiences.
- Review and incorporate feedback while maintaining a high standard of writing quality, accuracy, and consistency.
Regulatory & Operational Coordination
- Coordinate the development, review, and submission of materials through client approval processes, including Veeva.
- Proactively manage review timelines, revisions, and stakeholder feedback to keep deliverables on track.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, activity reports, and operational tracking across assigned workstreams.
Collaboration & Team Development
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback to junior colleagues, helping ensure the quality and consistency of deliverables.
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and sound judgment while managing competing priorities.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, contributing ideas and supporting continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, public affairs, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical communications, ideally within an agency or in-house PR team.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience independently developing press releases, key messages, and client-facing materials.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client deliverables and multiple workstreams with limited supervision.
- Experience communicating directly with clients, leading project discussions, and proactively identifying priorities or challenges.
- Exposure to clinical data releases, regulatory milestones, pharmaceutical brand communications, or related initiatives.
- Familiarity with Veeva, Medical, Legal and Regulatory (MLR) review processes, or similar content approval platforms is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
