Consultant General Surgeon (Colorectal & Proctology) - Dubai

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with a subspecialty focus in Colorectal Surgery and Proctology to join a leading healthcare facility in Dubai.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with colorectal, anorectal, and general surgical conditions, with responsibility for outpatient consultations, diagnostic assessment, surgical procedures, perioperative management, and post-operative follow-up. The role requires strong clinical expertise, sound surgical judgment, and a patient-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist consultation, diagnosis, and management of colorectal, proctological, and general surgical conditions.
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures as appropriate to clinical expertise and privileges.
• Manage patients with colorectal disorders, including benign and malignant conditions.
• Perform and manage proctological procedures such as treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistula-in-ano, perianal abscesses, pilonidal disease, and related anorectal conditions.
• Perform appropriate open, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive colorectal and general surgical procedures.
• Evaluate and manage patients with abdominal pain, bowel disorders, hernias, gallbladder disease, and other general surgical conditions.
• Participate in multidisciplinary management of colorectal cancer patients with oncology, gastroenterology, radiology, pathology, and other relevant specialties.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and formulate individualized surgical plans.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative care and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and clinical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, and continuing professional development activities.
• Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and development of junior medical staff where required.
• Maintain high standards of professional ethics, communication, and patient confidentiality.

• Candidates with demonstrated expertise in several of the following areas are preferred:
• Colorectal surgery
• Proctology / anorectal surgery
• Colorectal cancer surgery
• Laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery
• Hemorrhoid surgery
• Fistula-in-ano and anal fissure management
• Perianal abscess management
• Pilonidal disease
• Hernia surgery
• Gallbladder and biliary surgery
• Emergency general surgery
• Abdominal and bowel surgery
• Management of benign and malignant colorectal disease

Qualifications & Licensing

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Recognized specialist qualification in General Surgery with additional training, fellowship, or substantial clinical experience in Colorectal Surgery and/or Proctology.
• Eligible for Consultant-level licensure with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
• Current professional medical registration/licensure in the country of practice.
• Relevant post-specialization experience appropriate for Consultant-level appointment.
• Evidence of ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME/CPD).
• Professional indemnity coverage as required by the employing institution and applicable UAE regulations.

Experience

• Significant post-specialist experience in General Surgery.
• Strong clinical experience in colorectal and proctological surgery.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex surgical cases independently.
• Experience in laparoscopic/minimally invasive techniques is highly desirable.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary hospital or tertiary-care environment is preferred.
