Description

Part-Time: Human Resources Coordinator
Hourly Rate: $20.00-$30.00   DOE       
Schedule: In office 4 days for 20 hours/week


Pawsperity opened its doors in January 2016 as the country’s only nonprofit grooming school. Our mission is to empower families to become self-reliant through job training, life skills, and practical solutions to end their cycle of poverty. 

Position Purpose

The Human Resources Specialist supports the organization’s people operations by overseeing core human resources functions, ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies, and fostering a positive and mission-aligned workplace culture. This role provides guidance and support to employees and supervisors.

Core Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Organizational Culture
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns related to human resources matters.
  • Support supervisors in addressing employee relations issues and resolving workplace concerns.
  • Point of contact with legal counsel
  • Foster a professional, inclusive, and collaborative work environment aligned with Pawsperity’s mission
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and recognition efforts that strengthen organizational culture.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Coordinate the organization’s recruitment and hiring processes to ensure timely and compliant hiring practices.
  • Partner with supervisors to facilitate candidate evaluation and selection processes.
  • Manage all pre-employment screenings.
  • Coordinate on-boarding activities.
  • Maintain appropriate pre-employment and employment documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
HR Administration
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in alignment with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Administer and support employee benefit programs, retirement plans, and related enrollment processes.
  • Coordinate organizational training
Benefits, Compensation & Risk Management
  • Supports annual benefits renewal processes.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation administration

HR Policy & Compliance
  • Coordinate documentation, reporting, and compliance related to workplace incidents and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in employment law and HR best practices and recommend updates as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Experience with HRIS, Paylocity preferred
  • HR Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and compliance requirements
