Description
Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Sheet Metal/Bagger/Chip Room Operator.
The hourly rate for this position is $22.52 per hour.

## What you’ll do:
- Clean and prepare various types of metal castings and sheet metal surfaces for spot welding, acromatic and heliarc welding[HD1.1], brazing, etc. and perform various sheet metal operations using materials such as aluminum, bronze, brass, iron, steel, etc. and metal working equipment such as saw, shears, circle shears, bending brakes, hand/power roll formers, punch press, drill press, etc.
- Run parts to be cleaned through series of acid dips and wash to obtain uniform bright dip on materials not to be painted.
- Place materials in baskets and immerse in series of cleaning, alkaline, acid and rinse baths using raveling hoist.
- Use care to see that entire surfaces are covered by solutions and to avoid excessive crowding of materials in baskets.
- Check materials before and after cleaning for imperfections such as damaged threads and other obvious defects.
- Make minor adjustments to valves or alter strength of solutions as instructed.
- Make simple setups, minor adjustments and set stops on sheet metal equipment; assist with more complex setups as directed. Make simple templates.
- Spot weld boxes, mounting plates and like parts with spot welding unit usually set up by others. Assemble various sheet metal details.
- Clean machines daily; oil, lubricate and remove chips periodically as prescribed.
- Operate forklift truck or use hand truck to move material within the department and to or from other departments or storage areas as directed.
- Run errands as instructed.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition and report all questionable cases to proper supervision. Detect defective material or faulty operations.
- Follow prescribed routines or detailed instructions requiring decisions and some judgment.
- Complete training as assigned.
- Follow standard or prescribed safety regulations. Administer the 5-S's.
## Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Fork truck license
- Ability to read and use blueprints and calipers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Additional educational or vocational training is a plus but not required.
## Additional Information:
Physical and Environmental Factors:
- Regularly lift, push, and carry items up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged standing for the shift
- Repetitive motions like frequent bending, twisting, and lifting to load/unload parts from machine and tubs.
Eligibility:
- No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Syracuse, NY (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
