Senior Advisor GIS Data & Development (Enterprise Lead)
• Play a critical role in the stewardship and continuous improvement of Rio Tinto Iron Ore's Enterprise GIS environment, enabling reliable spatial data and services that support operational decision-making.
• Develop deep technical expertise across GIS platforms, data management, automation and system governance while influencing enterprise-wide spatial capabilities.
• Work with a diverse network of technical specialists, system owners and stakeholders to deliver innovative GIS solutions and drive continuous improvement.

About the role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor GIS Data & Development – Enterprise Lead to provide operational and technical oversight of the Enterprise GIS environment. In this role, you will support the ongoing operation, administration and optimisation of GIS platforms, ensuring enterprise spatial content remains current, reliable and fit for operational use.
You will provide technical leadership across GIS administration, data pipelines, platform governance and system support while partnering with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver sustainable and innovative GIS solutions.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Principal GIS Data & Development, you will:
• Provide technical oversight and support for the Enterprise GIS environment, including platform administration, configuration and operational performance.
• Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of enterprise imagery and vector basemaps to support operational decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement of automated GIS data pipelines and workflows to ensure spatial content remains accurate, reliable and accessible.
• Investigate and resolve complex GIS platform, application, service and integration issues, escalating where required.
• Process service requests, system changes, application configurations and integration activities through established governance processes.
• Develop and maintain GIS operational procedures, technical documentation, work instructions and configuration records.
• Support GIS governance, security, data quality and architecture requirements to ensure platform sustainability and compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen enterprise GIS capability, performance and user experience.

Required for Success
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise GIS governance, system architecture, platform performance and operational assurance.
- Experience administering and supporting enterprise GIS platforms, including services, basemaps, enterprise content and associated operational workflows.
- Demonstrated experience resolving complex enterprise GIS platform issues and identifying and delivering improvements to platform performance, reliability and capability
- Strong root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving capability, with the ability to identify systemic issues and develop sustainable solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to support both technical and business users.
- Helpful for Success
- Experience working with enterprise GIS platforms, spatial databases, APIs and system integrations.
- Knowledge of environmental, operational or asset management business processes supported by GIS.
- Experience developing technical documentation, work instructions and governance artefacts.
- Familiarity with ESRI products and enterprise GIS architecture.
- Tertiary qualification in GIS, Geospatial Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
