We are seeking a cleared Staff Systems Engineer for a critical leadership role in our Systems Engineering Group as a key contributor to the successful completion of RF Communications projects. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) on a team dedicated to the development of a new solution to solve the challenges that make a difference to our nation’s security. . The position requires expertise in Systems Engineering.

This position is perfect for a candidate who can lead efforts to produce new hardware products that support National Defense partners. The products produced at this facility support all domains of intelligence and defense battlespaces including land, sea, air and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential.

The senior principal systems engineer will lead a team technical responsible for the electrical design, development, integration, and test for the development project and serves as the primary point of contact for the external customer and internal development engineering team.

Essential duties:

• Work within the Systems Engineering Group to provide technical decisions and guidance to enable timely, high-quality product deliveries and test events that meet mission requirements
• Partner and collaborate with other program systems engineers across Integrated Product Teams to accomplish program requirements and meet mission objectives
• Propose and design systems architecture changes with traceability to requirements
• Provide implementation guidance and oversight across technical teams
• Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed
• Participate in engineering reviews of technical requirements, design and implementation plans prior to development
• Provide input to program milestones and metrics, adhering to relevant plans and schedules
• Identify problems and research technical solutions to resolve these problems
• Solve complex problems across disciplines in an Agile environment
• Support program engineering review boards

Typical teams are 5-10 people and require our engineers to have diverse skill sets that apply to the entire lifecycle of a program. This position allows the candidate to have direct contact with our end customers and end operators of our products, which allows for pragmatic and early feedback from the user community during the design process. Preferred technical background includes experience with collaborating across engineering teams to resolve and integrate technical/engineering requirements and verify their incorporation into the resulting product.

• RF communication and collection systems
• RF electronic warfare (EW) systems
• Unique waveform communication products
• Innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) solutions

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, or other STEM degree, plus 12 years of progressive experience OR Master of Science degree plus 10 years of progressive experience, OR PhD plus 7 years of progressive experience
• Comprehension of systems engineering principles, theories and concepts.
• Experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering to develop and model requirements
• Experience managing requirements or systems engineering artifacts using tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or JIRA.
• Direct experience in any of the following Systems Engineering activities: system requirements decomposition/derivation/flow down/traceability, architecture, high-level/detail design, implementation, integration and test, and/or verification & validation.
• Experience leading engineering teams from various disciplines in a recent technical development project
• Previous direct contact with end customers in the creation and development of project technical reviews and documentation.
• Experience in assessing project status in terms of technical, cost, and schedule execution
• US Citizenship is required
• Active Top-Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent design experience and a track record of successful RF product designs including integrating antenna, RF subsystems, and processing hardware/software into a complete system
• Experience as an IPT lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military
• Experience with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, MIL-STD-499, and/or INCOSE system engineering life-cycle processes
• RF modeling, simulation, and analysis including link budgets
• MATLAB knowledge and/or experience
• Background includes experience with design improvements, requirements management, especially in relationship to reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply varied technologies
• Ability to perform as liaison to the customer for all engineering efforts
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
