Overview
The Future of News team is seeking a Director, Account Management & Partnerships to manage day-to-day client and media partner relationships, helping facilitate and grow brands’ investment in news media.
This role will serve as a primary point of contact for clients and publishing partners, ensuring strong client service, smooth execution, and effective management of contracts, agreements, events and ongoing partnerships.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating across multiple stakeholders to deliver a positive client experience.
Responsibilities
Client Service & Relationship Management: Own day-to-day relationships with clients and media partners, serving as a trusted point of contact and ensuring timely communication, responsive service, and proactive issue resolution.
Account Management: Manage ongoing client accounts and publisher relationships, tracking deliverables, facilitating regular meetings, and ensuring commitments are met.
Contract & Agreement Management: Oversee the development, review, execution, renewal, and tracking of contracts and media barter agreements, coordinating with legal, finance and media sellers.
Partnership Coordination: Build and maintain strong relationships with news publishers, helping manage the operational and commercial details of partnerships and identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration.
Investment Tracking & Reporting: Monitor media investment commitments, contract terms, deliverables, and timelines to ensure accurate tracking and accountability across accounts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, strategy, finance, legal, and communications, to ensure alignment and seamless execution across client and partner engagements.
Process & Operations: Develop and maintain organized systems, workflows, and documentation for account management, contract tracking, partner communications, and renewals.
Growth & Retention: Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, improve partner engagement, and support continued brand investment in news media.
Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience in account management, client service, partnerships, advertising, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong client service skills, with experience managing day-to-day relationships across multiple accounts and stakeholders.
- Experience managing contracts, commercial agreements, renewals, and related administrative processes.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working with media companies, publishers, advertising agencies, or media investment programs is a plus.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Compensation
In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 with bonus added on top. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
