Install Manager | Solar PV & Battery Storage

Location: Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, with projects across the South Coast
Salary: £52,000–£65,000 per year, depending on experience
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Recruitment partner: Valoris Group

Take the next step in your solar career

Valoris Group is recruiting an Install Manager on behalf of a growing renewable energy business, supporting the delivery of domestic and commercial Solar PV and battery storage installations across Hampshire and the wider South Coast.

Our client delivers Solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and heat pump installations across Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire. With an in-house installation service, the business focuses on delivering renewable energy projects from initial consultation through to installation and ongoing support. Renewix

This opportunity would suit an experienced Solar PV Electrician, Lead Installer or existing Installation Manager looking to take greater responsibility for installation teams, site standards and project delivery.

About the role

You'll help organise, lead and oversee Solar PV and battery storage installations, working closely with electricians, roofing teams, subcontractors and the operations team.

The work will cover domestic properties and commercial sites, providing exposure to different installation types and project requirements. The company's published installation adverts also describe work across residential and commercial properties. Indeed

You'll lead by example, support the installation teams and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Management and hands-on installation for the first 3–6 months

For the first three to six months, this will be a hybrid role combining installation management with hands-on electrical installation work. This refers to a mix of responsibilities, not home working.

During this initial period, you'll remain actively involved on the tools while taking responsibility for coordinating installations, supporting the team and overseeing site delivery.

This will allow you to learn the company's processes, establish yourself within the team and build further practical experience on commercial installations before progressing towards a more management-focused position.

Strong domestic Solar PV experience is welcome. Previous commercial experience would be advantageous, but candidates with a solid technical background and the potential to develop into the role will also be considered.

The balance between installation work and management will develop in line with your experience, progress and project requirements. You must be comfortable joining in a practical, site-based leadership role rather than expecting to move completely off the tools from day one.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading installations: Coordinate and support electricians, roofers and subcontractors across domestic and commercial Solar PV and battery storage projects.
  • Remaining hands-on initially: Carry out electrical installation work, testing, commissioning and consumer unit upgrades where required, particularly during the first three to six months.
  • Planning site delivery: Work with the operations team to organise labour, materials, equipment and installation schedules.
  • Maintaining quality and safety: Monitor workmanship, promote safe working practices and help resolve technical or site issues.
  • Managing completion and handover: Ensure installation documentation, testing records, certification and customer handovers are completed correctly.
  • Supporting teams and customers: Provide practical guidance to installers, communicate with customers and site contacts, and keep the operations team informed of progress.

What we're looking for

  • Proven hands-on Solar PV installation experience, with the technical confidence to support and guide others.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Testing and Inspection qualifications, such as 2391 or equivalent, or evidence that you are working towards them.
  • Experience leading installations or supervising others, or clear readiness to progress from a senior electrician or lead installer position.
  • Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, alongside a willingness to remain on the tools during the initial three to six months.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Hampshire and the wider South Coast.

Experience with battery storage, commercial Solar PV installations and working to MCS installation requirements would be advantageous.

Salary and benefits

£52,000–£65,000 basic salary, depending on experience, alongside:

  • Company van and fuel card.
  • Company pension and paid annual leave.
  • Company uniform, high-quality tools and equipment.
  • Ongoing training and development, with opportunities for career progression.
  • Company events and a referral programme.
  • Free/on-site parking and casual dress where appropriate to the working environment. Indeed

Alongside the package, this role offers the opportunity to develop your commercial installation experience and take increasing responsibility for people, site standards and project delivery.
