A Day in the Life
Medtronic Clinical Research Solutions (MCRS) provides centralized clinical trial support services that help accelerate study execution while maintaining quality and compliance. Within the Site Activation & Support (SAS) organization, the Consents team partners with clinical Operating Units and cross-functional stakeholders to support informed consent development, review, and operational readiness for clinical research studies. The team works closely with Legal, Data Privacy, Compliance, Quality, and other clinical functions to help drive efficient site activation and study start-up activities.
As the Consents Manager for the Medtronic Clinical Research Solutions - Site Activation and Support (MCRS SAS), you will manage a team of US-based Informed Consent Specialists who provide consent-related services to Medtronic clinical Operating Units (OUs). This role is responsible for providing people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction for informed consent-related services supporting clinical research activities. In addition, the individual will serve as the business process owner for the Consents function, driving continuous improvement, standardization, and optimization of processes, tools, and systems.
The MCRS SAS organization includes several clinical teams, including Contracts, Consents, Start-Up Specialists, and Payments
This is a highly collaborative and visible role that partners closely with SAS leadership, clinical OU stakeholders, Legal, Data Privacy, Compliance, Quality, and other MCRS functions to support efficient site activation and delivery excellence.
This position is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and follows an onsite work arrangement. Travel up to 10% may be required to support business needs, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Informed Consent Specialists to drive performance, engagement, and professional growth.
- Direct resource planning, workload management, and prioritization to ensure timely delivery of consent-related services.
- Serve as the business process owner for the Consents function, driving standardization, optimization, and adoption of best practices.
- Oversee informed consent standard operating procedures (SOPs) and associated Quality Management System (QMS) and non-QMS documentation.
- Monitor operational metrics, analyze performance trends, and implement actions to improve service delivery, quality, and efficiency.
- Partner with clinical Operating Units, Legal, Data Privacy, Compliance, Quality, and other stakeholders to resolve complex consent-related issues.
- Manage escalations and provide guidance on complex operational challenges impacting study start-up and site activation activities.
- Collaborate with Site Activation & Support leadership to improve processes, remove barriers, and reduce site activation cycle times while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of clinical research, clinical operations, site activation, study start-up, or related experience OR Advanced degree with 3+ years of clinical research, clinical operations, site activation, study start-up, or related experience.
- Experience leading projects, processes, or operational activities within a regulated clinical research environment.
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and driving process improvement initiatives.
- Experience analyzing operational metrics and using data to support business decisions and performance improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior people management experience in clinical research.
- Experience supporting informed consent processes, documentation, or governance activities in clinical trials.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), standard operating procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Experience collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, or Quality functions.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered tools and technologies to improve productivity, decision-making, or business outcomes.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.
