Are you passionate about supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities to achieve their goals and become more independent?
At Hugh Baird College, we are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Job Coach to join our Learning for Life team and support students participating in our Supported Internship Programme. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to help learners develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to thrive in the workplace and beyond
About the Role
- Supporting students during work placements and helping them develop job-related skills.
- Providing travel training and accompanying students on public transport to help them become independent travellers.
- Supporting learners in classroom sessions, educational visits and social development activities.
- Assisting students with assessments, workplace journals and learning activities.
- Working closely with lecturers, employers and the Supported Internship team to monitor progress and achieve positive outcomes.
- Encouraging confidence, self-esteem and independence in all aspects of learning and employment.
About You
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates empathy, patience and sensitivity when supporting young people.
- Has a good understanding of learning difficulties, disabilities and inclusive practice.
- Is committed to helping learners achieve their full potential.
- Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Is willing to obtain a First Aid at Work qualification if not already held.
Previous experience supporting people with learning difficulties and disabilities within an educational, care or similar setting would be advantageous, as would relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant Award or NVQ Level 2 in Care.
