Description
We are seeking an experienced Dozer Operator to join our underground utility crew. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a bulldozer in support of underground wet utility construction activities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working around open trenches, utility crews, and excavation operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a bulldozer to perform grading, backfilling, site preparation, and earthmoving activities for underground utility projects
- Support installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems by maintaining proper grades and assisting utility crews working in the ditch
- Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality
- Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs as needed
- Communicate regularly with other crew members and subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget
- Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and that safety procedures are followed at all times
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects
- Provide on-the-job training to new operators as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment operation preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of bulldozer operating experience in heavy civil construction
- Previous experience working on underground wet utility projects (water, sewer, storm drain) and around open trenches is required
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus
