Description
- Train AMI metering staff in the installation, operation, tracking, maintenance, and testing of AMI metering equipment; ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
- Coordinate cross-functionally across utility departments to optimize system performance and resolve issues; specifically, collaborate with SCADA to maintain the AMI communications network, partner with the Metering Foreman on three-phase AMI metering, work with Engineering to develop advanced power data analytics, and support the Energy division in resolving data-related customer inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of budgetary proposals for AMI system enhancements and technology upgrades, ensuring strict compliance with City purchasing requirements.
- Oversee and maintain system wide meter read accuracy; evaluate system performance to ensure accurate consumption and demand data is available by close of each billing cycle.
- Track and monitor the installation, removal, and retirement of AMI metering equipment to ensure accurate asset inventory and data integrity.
- Collaborate with Engineers, SCADA, Utility Customer Service, GIS, and management to develop ways to best utilize AMI information to drive operational improvements.
- Execute comprehensive system administration for AMI, MDM, and field programming platforms; direct the lifecycle maintenance, testing, and deployment of firmware upgrades and meter profiles to ensure optimal network performance and security.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, acting as the AMI Supervisor in their absence.
Required:
Associate of Applied Science or a related technical field and two (2) years experience related to area of assignment; or a combination of education and experience
Valid Texas Driver License
Strong analytical skills
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, GIS and data visualization tools
Knowledge of database and data management principles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Available for emergency response for AMI related issues. Must maintain a residence within a 40 minute response time of the Utility Service Center within 6 months of accepting position.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in applied science or related field
Advanced computer application skills
Knowledge of utility billing, customer service, electric metering and/or RF (radio frequency) technologies
