Position Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, development, and validation of mechanical hardware used in power conversion systems, electronic control units, and other advanced electronic products. In this role, you will contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept and proposal development through product testing, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has experience designing mechanical components for electronic assemblies and enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs for electronic enclosures, mounting systems, and structural components that satisfy customer specifications, performance goals, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and production drawings while applying engineering principles such as tolerance analysis and dimensional control.
  • Design products in accordance with applicable engineering standards, including GD&T, design for manufacturability (DFM), and company design practices.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering meetings, providing technical feedback to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
  • Support engineering programs by completing assigned work within established project schedules and budget expectations.
  • Review technical documentation and customer requirements while contributing to engineering estimates, design documentation, bills of materials, validation plans, qualification procedures, and technical reports.
  • Investigate engineering challenges associated with existing products and new developments, recommending practical solutions to technical issues.
  • Provide regular project updates to engineering leadership, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies when appropriate.
  • Assist with product verification activities, prototype evaluations, and engineering testing for both new and existing designs.
  • Promote a safe working environment by following established health, safety, and environmental policies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel occasionally within the United States and internationally (typically one to two trips annually) as project needs require.
  • Support project schedules that may occasionally require overtime or evening work during critical development phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in mechanical product design within a manufacturing or new product development environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and product design practices.
  • Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings, including the application of GD&T.
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD software to develop components, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgment and analytical thinking to technical challenges.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using standard mechanical measuring instruments and basic shop tools.
  • Experience using CATIA for mechanical design.
  • Background designing hardware for aerospace or other safety-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with aerospace development and certification standards, including RTCA/DO-160, ARP4754A, and ARP4761.
  • Experience supporting products through testing, qualification, and transition into production.
