Project Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Head of Technology and Data, this role will take ownership of technology project delivery across a complex international environment consisting of multiple businesses, technology platforms, delivery partners and stakeholder groups. You will be responsible for creating structure, visibility and accountability across a portfolio of software, data and technology initiatives, ensuring projects are progressing as expected and leadership teams have confidence in delivery outcomes. This is not a traditional project environment with large internal delivery teams. Instead, success will come from your ability to coordinate, influence and drive outcomes across a distributed ecosystem of stakeholders.

Initially, the role will focus heavily on discovery, assessment and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with local and international leaders to understand current projects, delivery methodologies, ownership structures, reporting practices and key business priorities. A significant part of your time will be spent consolidating fragmented project information, building trusted relationships and establishing a single source of truth for delivery status, risks, dependencies and timelines. Your ability to quickly make sense of complexity and provide clarity will be critical during this phase.

Over time, the position will evolve into a key delivery leadership role supporting the organisation's broader transformation agenda. You will oversee governance forums, steering committees, reporting frameworks and delivery cadences while helping shape initiatives across automation, AI, data, platform modernisation and global technology alignment. The role offers the opportunity to influence how technology delivery operates across the organisation, helping create a scalable framework capable of supporting future growth, acquisitions and international expansion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage software, technology and transformation projects across multiple internal, external and offshore delivery teams
• Establish governance frameworks, reporting cadences and delivery disciplines across a complex project portfolio
• Create visibility of project status, timelines, risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes for executive stakeholders
• Facilitate steering committees, project forums, delivery reviews and stakeholder workshops
• Work closely with business leaders, product managers, business analysts, architects, engineers and vendors
• Coordinate activities across geographically dispersed teams operating across multiple time zones
• Track project milestones and ensure delivery remains aligned to agreed objectives and timelines
• Identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and scope changes before they impact delivery outcomes
• Support project planning, prioritisation and delivery readiness activities across the technology function
• Translate technical delivery activity into clear and commercially focused updates for senior leadership
• Drive accountability across stakeholders while maintaining strong working relationships and alignment
• Contribute to the development of scalable project delivery practices supporting long-term organisational growth

CANDIDATE PROFILE

You will bring a wealth of experience delivering software and technology projects within complex environments where success depends on coordinating multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and distributed delivery teams. You will have a proven track record managing initiatives from planning through to execution, while maintaining clear visibility over risks, timelines, dependencies and business outcomes. Experience working across software development, digital transformation or enterprise technology projects will be highly regarded.

A critical requirement is experience managing delivery through offshore, outsourced or geographically dispersed technology teams. You will understand the challenges associated with operating across multiple time zones, cultures and delivery models, and be comfortable driving outcomes without relying on formal authority. You will know how to hold vendors and delivery teams accountable, facilitate productive discussions and maintain momentum across multiple concurrent initiatives while ensuring stakeholders remain informed and aligned.

Equally important is your ability to create order from ambiguity. You are commercially minded, highly organised and possess exceptional communication skills that allow you to translate technical delivery activity into meaningful business updates for senior stakeholders. You thrive in lean, fast-moving environments where ownership, initiative and adaptability are valued, and you enjoy establishing governance, reporting frameworks and delivery disciplines that enable organisations to scale without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy. Experience within financial services, insurance or other regulated industries would be advantageous but is not essential.
