Project Accountant – Commercial Construction

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant with construction industry experience to oversee the financial administration of multiple commercial construction projects. This individual will work closely with Project Managers to monitor budgets, process billing, manage project costs, and ensure financial accuracy from project kickoff through closeout.
Key Responsibilities

Manage project accounting for multiple active construction projects.

Process owner billings, subcontractor pay applications, and change orders.

Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and forecasts.

Prepare monthly project financial reports and cost analyses.

Reconcile project accounts and investigate discrepancies.

Assist with contract administration and compliance documentation.

Coordinate lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and subcontract documentation.

Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects remain financially on track.

Maintain accurate records within the accounting and project management systems.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3+ years of project accounting experience within the commercial construction industry.

Strong understanding of construction billing, job costing, and contract administration.

Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, CMiC, or similar ERP systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
