Description
We are working closely with a local authority in Pembrokeshire to assist with the appointment of a Social Worker, on a 6-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £29.14- £38.18 per hour
Summary:
The Social Worker – Assessment (Children) is responsible for delivering high-quality statutory social work services to children, young people, and families within Pembrokeshire County Council's Child Care Assessment Team (CCAT). Working under the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and associated legislation, the postholder undertakes assessments, child protection investigations, court work, and care planning to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake statutory social work assessments for children, young people, and families in accordance with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and associated legislation.
- Complete Child and Family Assessments within statutory and local performance timescales.
- Assess risks relating to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and significant harm, ensuring appropriate safeguarding actions are taken.
- Identify children's developmental needs, family strengths, and protective factors to inform evidence-based assessments and intervention plans.
- Develop and implement outcome-focused Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Plans in partnership with children, families, and professionals.
- Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, professional standards, Council policies, and Social Work England or Social Care Wales Codes of Professional Practice, as applicable.
Qualifications:
- Degree or recognised professional qualification in Social Work (BA, BSc, MA, or equivalent).
Essentials:
- Registration with Social Care Wales.
- Experience undertaking statutory children's social work within a local authority or equivalent safeguarding setting.
- Experience completing Child and Family Assessments, Child in Need assessments, and safeguarding assessments.
- Experience preparing high-quality reports, assessments, and court documentation.
