Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will assist with the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and project accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger. 

• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations. 

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. 

• Analyze financial data and investigate account variances. 

• Support project managers with project cost reporting and job cost analysis. 

• Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and construction contract accounting. 

• Prepare sales and use tax filings and assist with payroll tax reporting. 

• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. 

• Assist with annual audits, financial statement preparation, and lender reporting. 

• Prepare and analyze various accounting reports for management. 

• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. 

• Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 

• 2–5 years of accounting experience preferred. 

• Construction accounting experience is highly desirable. 

• Understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction financial reporting is a plus. 

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 

• Experience with Vista, or similar construction accounting software is preferred. 

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
