Exempt; full-time; 35 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; full-benefits; grant funded


This professional position is responsible for diagnostic evaluation and intervention for infants and toddlers birth to 5 years of age who may present with speech/ language and other developmental delays.  Services are rendered through the Frederick County Health Department (FCHD), the lead agency for the Frederick County Infants and Toddlers Program (FCITP) which is a program of the Frederick County Developmental Center (FCDC).  Direct supervision is received from a Team Supervisor.

NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy.  For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception.

TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

  • Coordinate and conduct therapy sessions using evidence-based practices to address identified developmental and functional needs
  • Develop joint plan with families and caregivers to integrate therapy strategies into daily routines and environments
  • Conduct ongoing observations and/or re-evaluations to update service plans and monitor progress toward outcomes
  • Develop and implement individualized communication, literacy, and functional skill goals based on assessment results
  • Utilize technology and augmentative communication tools to support service delivery, documentation, and caregiver education
  • Build caregiver capacity through coaching, modeling, and collaborative problem-solving within natural environments
  • Complete required documentation and reports in compliance with program, state, and federal requirements
  • Analyze and interpret diagnostic results, provide feedback, determine eligibility, and make recommendations
  • Develop, implement, and review Individualized Family Service Plans in collaboration with families and interdisciplinary teams to address identified outcomes and needs
  • Facilitate transition planning and coordinate with outside agencies, schools, and service providers to ensure continuity of services for children and families
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to reflect current evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate services and support integrated service delivery
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and professional standards of practice
  • Participate in local and state public awareness activities, presentations, and workshops 
  • Provide service coordination to connect families with resources, monitor progress, and facilitate transitions
  • Ensure privacy of identifiable information according to HIPAA and FERPA regulations 
  • Perform other related duties as required

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders 
  • Maryland State license to practice Speech-Language Pathology, or current SLP license from another state with ability to obtain the MD state SLP license before hire date (current licensure must be maintained during employment)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • 1 year of experience in the speech language, communication sciences, or similar field.

  • Ability to establish ongoing support services and continuously monitor and evaluate the quality of services provided

  • Ability to document evaluation reports completely and complete required documentation accurately and timely
  • Ability to organize work and manage time 
  • Ability to arrange and complete travel to various sites

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • While working in this position, the employee is consistently lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing up to 40 pounds; frequently sitting, walking; occasionally climb, stoop, crawl, reaching, and performing repetitive motions.    
  • While working in this position, the employee is constantly indoors; frequently outdoors and potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

  • Requires the ability to arrange and complete travel to various sites
  • This position is subject to random drug testing
  • This position is considered essential personnel in the event of a public health emergency
