The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of cattle shipment and receiving activities at the feedyard. | Roles and Tasks |
- Coordinate daily and weekly shipping and receiving activities, including pre-shipment checklists, verifying headcounts, and managing scale tickets.
- Maintain clear communication with Cattle Manager, Assistant Cattle Manager, and Cattle Clerk to ensure smooth operations and proper escalation of issues.
- Inspect and maintain shipping and receiving facilities, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and safety; report or complete maintenance as appropriate.
- Oversee the unloading process, ensuring cattle are placed according to contract specs, verifying headcounts, and resolving discrepancies.
- Review procurement systems daily to monitor expected loads, confirm receiving assignments, and communicate any surprises or irregularities.
- Sort and separate cattle based on health, condition, or customer specifications, and report findings to appropriate leadership.
- Schedule and assist with pen moves and processing work orders, coordinating with management and pen riders as needed.
- Monitor and prepare feed bunks, water tanks, and receiving pens for incoming cattle, ensuring all facilities are ready and cleaned properly.
- Support inventory tracking and Showlist management by using drone data and system reports to maintain accurate records.
- Assist with night operations, weekend shipments, and provide backup coverage for lunch breaks or staffing shortages.

Education Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in agriculture or livestock management preferred.
Minimum Experience Required:- Experience working with feedyard operations or livestock logistics preferred.
